Born Emily Olivia Leah Blunt, this popular English actor entered this world on February 23rd, 1983. Her parents are Janice and Oliver Simon Peter Blunt, QC, the latter being one of the most reputed barristers in the country. It was in her 16th year that she was discovered by an agent, at the Hurtwood House, where she had gone to complete her education. Her career started on the stage and she was soon heralded as a star to watch out for.
It was in the year 2003, that Blunt made her debut on the screen, with the series Boudica, after which she landed a role in shows such as Henry VIII and Gideon's Daughter. It was for the latter that she was not only nominated, but also won the Golden Globe. In the year 2004, she delivered a performance that can be called nothing less than groundbreaking. This was in the movie My Summer of Love, which dealt with homosexuality and deception. It was for this very role that she won the Evening Standard British Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer.
However, it was in the year 2006 that the role that she would be best remembered for came her way – The Devil Wears Prada. The next few years, Emily appeared in movies like Wind Chill, The Jane Austen Book Club, Dan in Real Life, Charlie Wilson's War, Sunshine Cleaning, The Great Buck Howard, The Young Victoria, Curiosity, The Wolfman, Gulliver's Travels and The Adjustment Bureau.
The young actor has been nominated and has won several honours, on various platforms, including the London Film Critics' Circle Awards and the BAFTA Awards.
