Biography
Catherine Zeta-Jones was born on September 25th, 1969 in Wales. The reason behind her name was that, her grandfather was the captain of a ship named Zeta and he was the one who chose this name for her. She completed her education from the Dumbarton House School and Independent school. When she decided to become an actress, she joined The Arts Educational School in West London. In the year 2000, she married Michael Douglas and has two children with him.
She was very ambitious from her childhood and started her career, quite early. She used to perform in her family and school functions, but started her professional career with a theatre production, Annie and went on to play the role of Tallulah in the on-stage version of Bugsy Malone, in 1983.
Her movie career started in 1990 with Les 1001 nuits, in which she portrayed Scheherazade. After one year, she played the character of Mariette in The Darling Buds of May. Her character of Eléna (De La Vega) Montero in The Mask of Zorro gave her the fame that she had been craving for. For this movie, she was nominated in three categories and won the award for the Favorite Female Newcomer. In the coming years, she won several awards for her movies like Entrapment, The Haunting and Traffic.
However, it was in 2002, that the best role of her career came her way – that of Velma Kelly in Chicago. For this role, she was nominated in several categories and won most of them.
