Born in 7 August 1982, Abbie Cornish made her name as an Australian actress. She took birth in Lochinvar, New South Wales, Australia. She has four siblings. For her education, she went to Catholic School. She had a liking for foreign films. At the tender age of 13, she kicked off her career as a model. Before reaching 16 years of age, she was acting in television shows. Her first appearance in a film was around 1999. The film was titled The Monkey's Mask.
She has performed in a number of films. Some of the most noticeable are Water Rats, Outriders, White Collar Blue, Marking Time, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, A Good Year, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole and Bright Star.
For her performance in Bright Star, she nominated for Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress, Chlotrudis Award for Best Actress, Houston Film Critics Society Award for Best Actress and London Film Critics Circle Award for Actress of the Year and Satellite Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama.
In 2004, for her work in Somersault, she was bestowed with Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Film Critics Circle of Australia: Best Actress in A Lead Role.
