Ralph was born on 22nd December, 1962 in the town of Ipswich, England. He is the senior most son of his family. His mother, Jennifer Lash was an author and father, Mark was a photographer and farmer. His mother died in the year 1993.

Ralph belongs to a big and renowned family. His family was full of celebrities, directors, actor, filmmaker, composer, and conservationist. In 1973, Ralph and his family relocated to Ireland. He began his studies from St Kieran’s College, but after some time he left it and joined Newton School. Finally, Ralph finished his secondary studies from Bishop Wordsworth’s School. Unexpectedly, he got himself admitted in Chelsea College of Art for further studies and later he came to know that acting was the only thing he wanted to do rest of his life.
